Parori and Ai Giannis are twin villages right next to Mystras, where the foothills of Taygetos meet the Sparta valley. The cold water of the Keramos springs runs past the square, and tavernas set their tables in the shade of the plane trees – a perfect place for a slow lunch after visiting Mystras.
From the square, a winding path climbs into the gorge and reaches the rock chapel of Panagia Lagadiotissa in about 15 minutes. The path continues past Panagia Zagouna to the Faneromeni Monastery, about 50 minutes in total – an easy walk on an old cobbled trail.
