Georgitsi, at 970 metres, is known as the 'balcony of Taygetos' – from here the view runs all the way from the Arcadian mountains to the Laconian gulf. The village is wrapped in chestnut, fir and plane trees, with stone fountains, a stone school built in 1933 and the Byzantine church of Profitis Ilias.
A marked trail starts in the village and follows the Kardari gorge, and the Paraschi spring has its own small waterfall. Every autumn the Tsipouro Festival draws people from Sparta, the nearby villages and even Athens.
