Housed in a neoclassical building, this museum tells how today's Sparta came to be. It covers the families from Mystras who were among the first settlers, the Revolution of 1821 and King Otto's decree of 1834 founding the new town, then follows its growth into the 21st century.
Exhibits include traditional costumes and the architectural plans and documents of the new town. A good complement to a walk through the centre.
