The Lagada climbing field lies in a gorge of Taygetos, about 15 km from Sparta on the old road to Kalamata, just past the village of Trypi. Thanks to the altitude and the shade of the gorge, you can climb here even on the hottest summer days.
There are more than 100 sport routes in five sectors – Aloni, Petsanes, Stani, Tourlitsa and Splithari – from beginner level to hard. Park at the marked car park; the main sectors are about five minutes' walk. A small wooden hut sleeps six (bring a sleeping bag), and hotels are in Sparta and Mystras.
