Anavryti is a mountain village at 900 metres on the green slopes of Taygetos, with stone houses, wooden balconies and springs all over. It is popular with hikers and climbers because the European E4 path passes through it and many side paths lead up towards the peaks.
The area has more than ten trails and two gorges. A classic is the walk to Agios Ioannis: 3.5 km in about an hour, climbing 350 metres. Mountain biking, canyoning and 4x4 tracks are also possible, and the Faneromeni Monastery is about 2.5 km away.
