Mount Parnon is known among Greek amateur astronomers as their 'holy mountain'. Far from city lights, its skies are among the darkest in the country, and on a clear night you can see thousands of stars.
The mountain refuge at 1,420 metres is easy to reach and a good place to spend the night; guesthouses in the nearby villages are an alternative. Bring warm clothes – nights are cold even in summer.
